NOKUT is the information centre and national contact point for the following services:

• Diploma Supplement (DS)

  The Diploma Supplement (DS) is an official document accompanying the diploma of higher education. Both documents are to be issued by the higher education institutions to all their graduates. The DS gives asupplementary description of the obtained qualification.

  The Diploma Supplement is useful when applying for jobs or recognition of qualifications, as well as in connection with further studies abroad. Please note that the DS is only a supplement to the diploma, concerning one specific degree obtained by one individual graduate, which is valid only together with the specific diploma.

• The European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning (EQF)

  The European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning (EQF) facilitates the promotion of mobility and lifelong learning by providing a common reference framework. The framework assists in comparing qualifications and levels of qualifications between countries and systems in Europe.

  NOKUT is the National Coordination Point (NCP) for the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning in Norway. The coordination point is responsible for information, guidance and maintenance.

• The Professional Qualifications Directive – Directive 2005/36/EF

  NOKUT is the national contact point for the Professional Qualifications Directive in Norway. NOKUT answers questions from persons who need recognition of their foreign qualifications. We are the national contact point for recognition of professional qualifications for professions that are regulated through Directive 2005/36/EF. This means that we provide information on recognition of professional qualifications in Norway to citizens of EU/EEA countries.

  In addition, we assist Norwegian citizens who wish to work in a regulated profession within the EU/EEA. We are also available to assist the authorities and national contact points of other countries with the same kind of information.
